The Results are In

Everybody's back from the competition in Rochester, New York and they did splendid! 77 teams descended on the Rochester Institute of Technology facility to the 2010 SAE Mini-Baja Competition, and among them, for the first time, was Memorial Baja. Our boys and girls garnered the praise of the judges during the first day at tech inspection, who, realizing this was their first car, were flabbergasted. They went on to have a hard time in the hill climb due to a clutch maladjustment only to rise to the occasion in the water event, in which they placed first, beating the closest time around the watery race course by an astounding seven seconds! The suspension test knocked out a lot of teams, and almost our driver (Rocky) too, physically, but the buggy stayed strong and muscled over rows of giant logs! The team went on to pass the remaining battery of tests set forth by SAE one after another until finally completing the four hour endurance race with only minor repairs. In culmination, they brought home a win in the floating trial, the Rookie Award (and were lauded on by the event coordinators during it's presentation on stage), and a final 25th out of 77 overall! It was an outstanding effort and an outstanding result for any team, let alone a first year one.
